Beyond What Is Seen

I refused to go to bed without posting something new.  I have been keeping my promise to myself about writing one new piece per business day since last Wed. and I was not about to break my streak today.  So here is another piece of poetry thrown together on the spot.  I think it is better than the last one at least.  At least quality is improving.  Happy Reading!

Beyond What Is Seen

Beyond what we see
Lies someone’s truth in apathy

One does not always display what is felt
Emotions held tight never showing the hand they are dealt

Folding in upon one’s self
Till small enough to fit on a shelf

Staying hidden in the corner
And for life be nothing more than a mourner

To forever flee one’s own fears
In unheard cries and unseen tears

Never understand farther than the first look
We always judge by the cover of the book

Beyond what we see
Lies someone’s truth in apathy
